This site is actually built using a very popular blogging application. The theme is custom built from the ground up, using Fireworks for the design and wire-frame, and then HTML, CSS, OO PHP, and JavaScript for the site build and functionality.
Particular focus went to SEO optimization on this site as well. At the time of writing this, the site is getting around 7,400 visitors and 4,000 registered users a month.
